Product Lifecycle Manager - Aerospace
We have a career opportunity for a Product Lifecycle Manager to work for a prestigious and technology leading business within the aerospace sector. The key purpose of role is to be responsible for managing the PLM team, overseeing support and development of the system and contributing to the Engineering IT strategy.
The principle responsibility of the role is to promote, develop, deliver and maintain PLM strategy and ensure its alignment with Business Unit Strategies/Objectives. Working with local site representatives, chief and /or lead engineers, "Policy and Improvement" teams, the PLM Manager will act as the senior point of contact for all PLM activities across the Business Unit to ensure definition, delivery and maintenance. You will ensure generic and standard practices and processes are defined and implemented in PLM system and maintain and develop relationships with relevant stakeholders, internally and externally. You will prioritise and plan allocation of resources to meet the business needs alongside tracking and reporting, through monthly KPI's, the progress of all development and deployment activities. You will ensure strategic goals are achieved and satisfied by the PLM solution, alongside promotion of PLM within the business, setting the expectations of the business management with regard to PLM and deliver relevant benefits as required. You will also provide guidance to steering committees / engineering leadership team with advice and key developments in PLM.
In addition you will provide maintenance and support of PLM solution by effective incident and service request management including the provision of a Service desk. You will be responsible for the overall robustness and performance of PLM systems to ensure they meet business demands alongside offering appropriate levels of PLM support and training to end users in addition to ensuring right level of support is provided by product vendors. In terms of cost management duties you will manage licences, support contracts, related fees, recharges to various programs, sites and produce P&L summary of the PLM group into Engineering. You will also highlight future opportunities with respect to investment in latest IT technologies to ensure an effective PLM solution.
Furthermore you will lead and manage PLM team, support the drive towards consolidation and shared services supported by technology within the team and the business community, taking advantage of commercial off-the-self products where possible, configuring rather than customising. In addition you will embed standard project and support practices within the team, plan and allocate resources to various PLM activities according to the workload / skill set and structure and support the development of the team.
In terms of skills the successful applicant will have knowledge of Windchill products - PDMLink, ProjectLink, WGM and a good understanding of Windchill architecture and object model. You will have a good understanding of engineering, manufacturing processes preferably in Aerospace Industry and have project management and execution skills alongside support management (ITIL consider an advantage). You will be a strategic thinker, entrepreneurial , a strong and effective communicator at all levels, proactive, able to work independently without close managerial support alongside having strong relationship management skills - internally and externally.
The successful candidate will have experience of all aspects of PLM implementation preferably Windchill including business requirement analysis, process mapping, development, customisation, integration with other business systems, upgrades, migrations, consolidations and maintenance of PLM solutions. You will have experience of all phases of software development lifecycle, PLM Solution roll out and a proven record of being a well presented proactive communicator with the ability to build professional relationships. You will have the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively both internally and externally and have experience and a demonstrable history of achievement and deploying PLM across multiple sites.
You will have a UK Driving License, be eligible for SC Clearance and a Service Management and Project Management qualification would be an advantage. You must have a flexible approach to the work place as the nature of the role requires that on occasion work be undertaken out of normal working hours (including evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays). Occasionally support request arise out of normal working hours, the role is therefore required to assess, prioritise and manage service restoration. The role will requires a proactive approach with strong people skills across multiple sites to ensure efficient deployment of PLM solution. The role will also require both National and International travel and as such the Filton office should be considered a base rather then location
