DESIGN DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

I am currently recruiting for a Design Development Engineer with Automotive surfacing experience to work on a permanent basis in South Yorkshire.
Work within cross-functional project teams to design and develop products that meet the defined Product Technical Specification and provide appropriate CAD models and engineering drawings to enable robust manufacture of the product.
Support Engineering Changes and New Product Innovation Projects.
Identify and define the product technical specification based on customer, internal and regulatory requirements.
Define sub-supplier and internal product technical specifications.
Design components and assemblies that fulfil the defined Product Technical Specification (PTS).
Create CAD models and engineering drawings that fulfil internal and customer requirements.
Set up and maintain the Engineering Bill of Materials
Utilise engineering tools such as tolerance stacks, FEA, DFM, DFA, and DFMEA to provide evidence that the PTS will be fulfilled.
Ensure internal Product Development Guidelines (PDG) are fully considered in the development of new products and ensure lessons learned are identified and incorporated back into the DFMEA and PDG.
Complete the specified development activities and deliverables according to the project time plan.
Ensure data (CAD, drawings, other data) status is accurately controlled and current/obsolete data are clearly identified and separated.
Provide design and CAD support as required for sales activities, new product innovation projects and other activities
Visit customers to review engineering development progress and establish strong relationships with key customer engineering personnel.
Support health and safety policy throughout the site.

-Exposure to Catia v5 and/or UG NX product design engineering and advanced surfacing in the automotive sector
-Degree level education in mechanical engineering or similar subject (lower qualifications may be acceptable in combination with exceptional experience)
-Experience of design for high volume manufacturing processes such as manual & automated assembly, plastic injection moulding, high pressure die casting, aluminium extrusion, 5-axis cnc machining, aluminium bending/forming processes, metal pressing & punching, application of decorative surface finishes
-Understanding of geometrical dimensioning & tolerances, international drafting standards and measurement/metrology principles
-Experience of providing cad input to fea processes and interpretation of fea output
Excellent technical communication skills
-CAD hours working with Catia V5 and/or UG NX
-Trim & structural product design engineering experience in the automotive sector
-FEA analysis experience
-Foreign language skills, particularly French and /or German
