Project Engineer

We have a vacancy for a Project Manager based at our Quedgeley office near Gloucester.
The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of projects ranging in size and complexity, delivered internally or embedded within a customer team. Projects deliver engineering, technical and safety case solutions for our customers, who are engaged in the civil nuclear industry. The role covers the whole project life cycle from leading bids (mainly under framework contracts) to final delivery.
Project management development will be provided to a motivated individual and there is a natural progression route available for those who wish to develop their career in project/programme management.

Duties and Responsibilities
Initially the successful candidate will work within the Project Management Team based at Quedgeley, reporting to the Team Leader. The main roles & responsibilities will include:
*Leading multi-disciplined technical project teams of engineers, scientists and consultants to deliver high quality output, safely, on time and to budget
*Ensuring risks are identified, mitigated and managed appropriately
*Developing and maintaining detailed plan of internal and external resources needed to deliver customer requirements
*Ensuring project reporting (forecasting, progress updates etc) is accurate and timely
*Developing strong relationships with our customers
*Identifying opportunities to grow the business
*Leading the production of winning bids and proposals
*Driving continuous improvement of processes
*Mentoring/ coaching less experienced Project Managers/ Project Support Officers in the team.
Essential Requirements
*First degree in Project Management or science/engineering
*Demonstrable experience of working in a technical project / programme environment
*Proven project management experience with understanding of project management processes and terminology and track record of delivery.
*Excellent interpersonal skills commensurate with the role of a consultant, mentor, leader and team player
*Proven ability to manage technical staff within a project team
*Strong delivery focus with problem solving ability
*Excellent customer-facing skills including the ability to present in a compelling fashion to a technical audience and to senior management
*Good attention to detail
*Positive, proactive and enthusiastic approach
*Full UK driving licence

Desirable Requirements

*Experience and knowledge of the civil nuclear industry
*Flexibility to work at remote customer sites
*Chartered status from an relevant institution (APMP, engineering institution etc)
*Additional project management qualification, eg APMP, APMPQ
*Experience of mentoring or coaching others
